What is a construction estimate?
A construction estimate is a structured breakdown of what it should cost to deliver a defined piece of building work. Quantities are measured from the drawings, materials and labour are priced, and preliminaries, plant and allowances are added where relevant.
It is not the same as a quotation. The estimate is the commercial picture you work from; the quotation is the offer you present to your customer once you have added your own margin, terms and conditions.
